Recruit a Goddess on your own. Further down the main Goddess page I both make and solicit suggestions for "Goddesses of the Web." But there's no need to stop there; many aspects of our modern lives are notably lacking in Divine protection. Is there a Goddess of flat tires and stalled engines? Who do you pray to for for strength and perseverance when your computer crashes and takes your 15-page proposal with it?
There's no need to reach an agreement or consult some expert to answer these questions, and there's no reason you can't call a Goddess to the task yourself. (In fact, there's no reason you can't create another aspect of Her, just for the occasion, but I personally find it easier to deal with Someone who's already established--and perhaps lacking much to do?) The best way is often to find (or stretch!) an old association to fit a new situation.
While some Goddesses are known for covering all contingencies equally, it can be far more satisfying to connect with one who holds sway over a particular facet of life--a specialist, if you will. Perhaps a Goddess of travelers and journeys, once prayed to regarding broken wagon wheels and enough water to cross the desert safely, could be persuaded to take on the case of the motorist with a flat or who has run out of gas? Perhaps a Goddess connected with wheels and circles? Perhaps a Goddess who deals with manufactured things, machines?
Let your mind run wild in making these connections--there is no right answer. This can also be an excellent encouragement to learn more about Goddesses worshiped in different cultures and times. Do a little spiritual research, but remember to enjoy the journey, because there is no definitive goal.
